What is the Best Time To Launch an Online Course?
Platform ReviewLearn what time of the year, day of the week and hour of the day is best to launch your online course.
After spending months, weeks, and days creating your online course, now it's finally time to launch it.
But you are hesitant about when you should do it, right?
Course creators just getting started often make this mistake, which is waiting for some sort of green light before launching their course.
The thing is, if you keep waiting for that "Eureka" moment, you'll wait forever. 😉
But I get it, over the years I've wondered also about the best time to launch my courses.
Here is what I've learned.
When is the Right Time to Launch your Online Course?
The perfect time to launch an online course is right now, or at least as soon as you have enough of the course ready.
There is usually no reason to wait for a particular time of the year unless one of the major promotions like Black Friday or New Year is right around the corner.
Unless your course is for some reason completely linked to a certain time of the year, there is no need to wait around before launching it.
Even then, a lot of people like to prepare in advance, so you might as well have the course available way before the date.
What day of the week is better for a course launch?
Even though it does not make much sense to wait for a certain time of the year to launch a course, there is some sense in waiting for example a Monday to launch it.
And this is just to make sure that people read your launch email during their work week.
If you can avoid launching your course during the weekend, when people are more distracted and spend more time away from their computers, that will help you a bit.
What time of the day is best for a course launch?
It also makes sense to send your course launch emails sometime early in the morning, and deliver the email at a certain hour of the day using time zones, via your email marketing software.
Wait for example for 11 AM to send the email.
This ensures that your launch email will be visible on top of your student's mailbox, and not at the bottom, buried below all the other emails that were sent overnight.
Conclusion
As soon as you have enough material to satisfy most of your students, you should launch the course.
No need to wait until it's 100% perfect, it will never be. It's much more important to get the course published, start getting some feedback as soon as possible, and start improving the course based on that feedback.
If Black Friday or New Year is just around the corner, you might consider holding the launch for a couple of weeks, that might be worth it.
But other than that, go ahead and launch your course when it's good enough and it has enough content to help most of your audience.
Launching your course early in the work week and making sure your launch emails arrive at the top of the inbox of your students by delivering them early in the morning also helps.
What you don't want is for your launch email to be one of those numerous emails that got sent during the night, and it sits now on the bottom of the mailbox, where it will be quickly trashed when people do their daily mailbox cleanup.
